This is a large tribal rug. About
13 1/2 by 7 1/2 feet. Oranges, yellows, and sage green. This carpet is
unusual in that it is double faced. The Berber people would often use the soft plush
side for sleeping and sitting in the wintertime. In the summertime, the woven flat
side was cooler and also easier to clean after food spills, etc.
This piece is from the Zammour people. It is approximately 60 years old. The
design features a transition from small to large stars. There is a subtle color
transition from one end of the carpet to the other.
