A Mexican Bandito shot Townsend down on the Rio Grand and left him for dead and took his Colt. Townsend tracked him down and killed him and got back his gun, his documents, Ranger papers, pictures, Belt & Holster, but most valuable, his book on his life go with it and Badge POR Sheriff’s Badge, also his Ranger Badge and Ranger Belt & Buckle.
